Paper table

Two of my favorite Dutch designers, the duo Scholten & Baijings, have again surpassed themselves by creating this remarkable 'Paper Table' flat ware set. With this project, Scholten & Baijings present their vision for the art of dining. The amazing subtle but beautifully elegant folded cardboard models for the crockery are translated into light grey, unglazed porcelain cups and plates.

I am sure you understand why the set was immediately added to my wish list. All I have to do now is be patient. Royal Leerdam Crystal, Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer and the Audax Textile Museum have joined forces to produce the prototypes of the designs, but it's not sure yet when 'Paper Table' will hit the stores.

Medical heirlooms

English designer Tamsin van Essen, who is based in Prague, explores the new aesthetic of the practical design concept. Inspired by scientific and medical topics, Tamsin questions contemporary obsessions with perfection and beauty, and manipulates ceramic in a way that emulates physiological processes, deliberately encouraging 'faults', 'defects' and 'blemishes.' The result is somewhat peculiar but astonishing.

Lampalumina

Hi all! I just got back from my beloved Toronto, and feel so inspired and full of energy again. So let's get this rolling and share some news, products and more...

The Bouroullec brothers, who will be showcasing their work at the Milan Design Week (starting tomorrow!), came up with this beautiful delicate ceramic lamp, called 'Lampalumina'. I love how Lampalumina already looks like a classic contemporary winning design, can't wait to find out where we can purchase this beauty!
