At the moment I'm working on a moodboard for a completely new magazine. An inspirational magazine about arts, design, travel and culture - connected and related to the Dutch creative scene. So much inspiration to be found online, this just being a fun example...

Starman

Bristol-based Zara Picken is a young illustrator who is influenced by mid-century modern design and has a passion for old paper-based ephemera. Her work is retro-tinted with textured blocks of colour, and combines digital and handmade elements.

Starman is just one of Zara's many beautiful illustrations. If you still have a spot on the wall... threat yourself this weekend and check out Zara's little shop.

Matthew Lyons

By pure luck I ran into the great work of English student Matthew John Lyons who is in his final year of an illustration and animation course. Great graphic style and absolutely loving the choice and use of colors.

Landscapes

English Tom Edwards' set of landscapes was inspired by Icelandic scenery. Wonderful how the charm of a seemingly simple cut & paste look emphasizes the concept, shapes and colors.

Arian Behzadi

Just sharing the amazing work of Arian Behzadi. Arian is currently studying Biology, however, in between classes he works on personal and commissioned visual design pieces, like this stunning 'boy'. This image was composed by using scanned images from (mainly) old biology textbooks.

Julia Pott

Wow, wow, wow. The work of young London-based illustrator Julia Pott is just awesome! Julia is currently doing a masters in animation at the Royal College of Art in London and has won awards for her short film 'My First Crush' (watch below).

If you're liking Julia's work as much as I am, make sure to be quick in getting your favorite print as she'll be closing her shop for an indefinite time per tomorrow.

Something cool every day

Via Victoria I found the work of designer and illustrator Mark Weaver. Mark continuously creates fantastic collages for the ‘Make Something Cool Every Day’ project.

A wonderful collection where typefaces, retro images and illustrations are being combined, resulting in beautiful mishmash of styles and images. Some of the illustrations, prints and postcards are available through his shop in case you can't get enough...

Covers

John Paul Thurlow loves to draw and wants to make a statement. What started back in April of last year as “a homage to the creative men and women who produce such disposable perfection”, is now a collection of more than 90 detailed, articulate and personal drawings, all based on the covers of old (fashion) magazines. Nice...!

Ana Botezatu

Romanian illustrator Ana Botezatu's mixed work is very refreshing and original; what a pleasure browsing through her work. Besides the fantastic illustrations and collages, she also created wonderful print for fabrics, stickers, and embroiders whatever she can get her hands on.

Micca

Another treasure... the simple and elegant clear-line & watercolor illustrations from the Japanese Micca.

Ola!

A while ago I shared some of Denise’s work with you, her being one of my favorite illustrators. Here’s another illustrator I think delivers briljant work and has more or less a similar style to Denise’s: the Spanish Sandra Suy. Do you like her work as much as I do? Sandra's work is available here.

Soft men

The above little softies were up for 'adoption' but I was too late. Let's hope Sandra Juto will create some new ones soon. Although no 'men for sale' right now, there are some gorgeous pocket calendars and prints available that you may like...

Paradise

Lucky me (and my scheduled trip to Arnhem); I found another treasure, called Het Paradijs. Het Paradijs is the initiative of illustrators Maaike Burgers, Hanna Hermans, Esther Horchner and Els ten Klooster who create the most wonderful work. The work of these 4 ladies is full of energy, so inspiring... even their everyday mail is turned into little pieces of art. Besides illustrating, they also like to make bags, broaches, wallets, and more. Hope to see more of them in the future!

Paper art

When looking for vintage wallpaper google somehow directed me to Design*Sponge's blog and there I found the gorgeous paper art by Julene Harrison, custom papercut pieces made with love and precision. Julene's work is available via her Etsy shop, and you bet I'll buy one of her artworks. How could I not?
